What if Chevrolet offered the Z-28
option package to the Nova as well as the Camaro? What if it came with the
Camaro dash, center console, seats, and rear wing? What if the original owner
wanted a serious car, so he deleted the radio and heater, but ordered the cross
ram DZ302 and standard trans?
What if he ordered it Hugger Orange with white stripes with a white hounds tooth
interior? Hmmmm. What if we found this car and restored it, but with a modern
flare? What if we swapped out the old 4-speed for a new Tremic 5-speed?
What if we replaced the old JL8 disc brakes and rally rims with new C6 brakes
and larger diameter Budnik rims? What if we up graded the steering and
suspension for better handling and a more aggressive stance?
Sounds pretty cool huh? Well that’s just what Pure Vision did! The Z-28 Nova was
unveiled at the 2006 SEMA Show and soon after, the rest of the world saw & read
about it in the pages of Hot Rod Magazine.
Steve
Strope at Pure vision created exactly that; the Nova that Chevrolet should have
produced. Steve's build includes such highlights as a full roller 406 with
a functional cross ram that makes 500+ horsepower and 500+ ft/lbs of torque.
In keeping with the theme, the World heads were modified to resemble the
original double hump heads that were found on the DZ small block from Chevrolet.
The transmission is a 5 speed from Kiesler and the rear is a Dana 60. The
suspension is all Global West, the wheels are from Budnik, and the Brakes are
from a C6 ZO6. The exhaust is a recreation of the original style dimpled
pipe by Stainless Works. One of the most eye catching items on the car is
an all steel, hand built cowl induction hood.
GMP
Diecast picked up on this project and decided we should all be
able to own one. In the line of fantastic 1/18th scale models comes this
eye grabbing Nova. It's accurate down to the hounds tooth interior.
I've seen both the 1/18th scale version
and the real deal, and they are both incredible and deserve a close up
inspection to really appreciate the details, craftmanship, and Vision.
Pure Vision.
