Killer Customs ProTouring 69 Camaro                                                      www.KillerCustoms.ca

This project started as a conversation in a coffee shop parking lot on a sunny Friday night last September. An innocent, “hi, nice car,” as I stood beside a 69 Camaro of another of our customers. And I guess the rest is as they say history. A deal was struck to meet with the owner, of a really solid 69 Camaro. Killer Customs was to come up with ideas as to how a 69 should look, at the first meeting most of the major ideas you see here were discussed.  The customer was very impressed with Killer Customs concept of trying to build a car that was more a European Super car with a good amount of American Muscle to back it up, rather than just a bolt together Camaro.  Six months of non stop work and an April deadline to have the car at the BC Classic and Custom Car show, finished!! Well it didn’t really happen that way but it was about 90 % done with some finishing work still needed on the interior and sound system.  Don’t get me wrong this is a 69 Camaro but with all the things that are modern, stylish and subtle but still keeping the cars signature and all that you loved about it with more a punch.  Some of the modifications are very subtle and some are in your face, but none are over done.  Everything is clean and smooth with some different finishes that you don’t see everyday, All the polished aluminum was glass beaded and then clear anodized, Black Chromed stainless trim, polished aluminum then clear anodized interior trim.

The drivetrain
Starts with 383 sbc with 200 hp NO2 fogger system Billet Specialties Tru Trac Drive system mated to a Tremmec t56 6 speed trans and then a Strange Engineering 9” rear end with 3:73 gears all housed in a nodular carrier located in the car by an Art Morrison triangulated 4 link rear suspension with QA1 Coilovers. The front control arms are tubular with Killer custom designed uppers to accommodate the taller Superior drop spindles also utilizing QA1 Coilovers. Wilwood 13” rotors and 4 piston calipers on all 4 corners will defiantly reduce the chance of any speeding tickets.

The interior
The dash started as a 59 chev that was extensively modified and smoothed, the gauge cluster is very unique, incorporating Autometer gauges with Killer Customs faces all wrapped in one off billet aluminum bullet holders Killer designed for 343 Custom Machining. Recaro seats that were recovered with perforated leather and matching orange leather underlay. Custom door panels and center console housing all the switches and Alpine head unit which controls a Brax amp that drives Boston Acoustics subs and Brax speakers. The rear seat was upholstered to match the front Recaros also, a faux Swede head liner was installed.

The body
There are too many modifications to list here but some would include shaved door handles, marker lights and drip rails. Split rear bumper with Killer Custom designed/built fuel door. Centered exhaust tips with license plate holder. The cowl vents were filled and smoothed, front bumper filled and fitted and of coarse the side vents, Killer Customs designed/built front air dam and rear spoiler, and much more. giving it head turning style.

The Paint
Sprayed with PPG the black is the same as the Chrysler 300 and the orange is a variation for a Range Rover pearl metallic orange then sanded and polished to perfection.  The attention that this car gets says it all, it has never been done before and all that follow will be a compliment to the over all style and design.
